On irritable days, exercise helps to reduce inner tension before it erupts into cravings or conflicts.

When the body is under tension, it looks for discharge. Movement gives this energy direction instead of letting it run uncontrollably.
Tension needs movement, otherwise it will look for an outlet.
Choose the intensity to suit your feeling: fast walking when you're irritable, strength when you're angry, calm movement or stretching when you're feeling restless. What matters is not the duration, but rather that the tension can be released physically.
Why exercise relieves stress
Irritability is not just a thought, but a physical condition: increased pulse, inner restlessness, pressure.
Exercise uses exactly this activation and reduces it instead of channeling it into cravings for smoking or impulsive behavior. Even short sessions can be enough to noticeably reduce the pressure.
This is how you use movement as an outlet
Build simple “discharge levels” for acute moments, for example:
- 20 seconds of fast stair climbing - 30 seconds of brisk walking - 20 second wall sit - short, strong movements (arms, legs, releasing tension)
The order is important: first move, then react, decide or speak.
