A strong desire to smoke often doesn't just happen in the head, but can be felt throughout the body. An intense but safe physical stimulus can help shift attention away from desire and back into the present moment.

Tension in the body can also be relieved without a cigarette.

Decide in advance what situation the mat is intended for: after work, after an argument, under high work pressure or as part of the evening routine. If she is supposed to be responsible for everything, she easily loses her effectiveness. A clear trigger makes it a reliable tool.

Why a physical stimulus creates distance

A strong desire to smoke narrows your attention: your thoughts keep circling around the cigarette. A clear physical stimulus can briefly interrupt this automatism because the brain focuses its attention on a new perception. This doesn't replace long-term strategy, but it can create an important moment of distance between impulse and action.

This is how you use the mat specifically

Place the mat where you would normally reach for a cigarette. Start with three to five minutes. Rate your desire to smoke or your stress level before and after on a scale of 1 to 10. Conclude the application consciously, for example with a glass of water or a few calm breaths. This gradually creates a new habit instead of the old smoking ritual.
