A conversation instead of pondering

A short conversation can help to interrupt thoughts of relapse and to gain distance from the impulse to smoke again.

When you stop smoking, many difficult moments arise in your head: thoughts spin, arguments become louder, and the impulse becomes more and more convincing. A brief contact with the outside can release this inner loop.

An honest sentence can be enough to see more clearly again.

Why a conversation helps

Rumination is often self-reinforcing. A conversation brings three things at once:

- a different perspective - Connection to a real person - a break in the thought loop

As a result, the smoke impulse often loses pressure because it no longer only takes place in your own head.

This way you can use the contact at the right moment

Have two people ready to write to at the moment of printing. Use a simple, direct message, for example:

“I’m craving a smoke right now, can you write for a moment?”

The clearer and shorter the message, the more likely you are to use it in the real moment.

In this way, brooding becomes contact again - and pressure becomes a short, clear moment.
